I have tried time and time again to kick my hair product habit. It'll work for a bit then come back with a vengeance. Although I am good at saving money, despite buying products a lot, I want to buy a car in the very near future and my budget does not call for anymore new products. I will only be repurchasing staple products. I am so glad that Shea Moisture stepped their game up with these new products. That allows me easy access to products right when I need them. I just need them to drop the exclusivity they have with Ulta on the Weightless line and I'll be even happier. I will still be using and purchasing Hydratherma Naturals because that is one quality product line there. The bonus is that their products are geared toward keeping the moisture/protein balance in your hair.

There is one product line that I will definitely be revisiting; Shi-Naturals. My product curiosity has caused my to stray from my very first favorite product line. I will try them again to see how great they work on my soon to be fully natural hair. I'm so excited to do so. I'll mainly use my 3 favorite deep conditioners from her line; the moisture balance, protein balance and coconut creme conditioners. Her products never fail me. The packaging is simple and the products deliver great results. You can check one of my very first posts for more information on Shi-Naturals.

Have you found your staples yet.

Wash Day Chronicles: 7/26/15

After a little over a week of being straight, I finally washed my hair. Today's wash day was brought to you by Shea Moisture Fruit Fusion Coconut Water Weightless line. I was finally able to use this line and was so excited about it.
1. I wanted to watch my hair revert back to curly. I parted my hair into three sections, sprayed my hair with distilled water and applied the Weightless Conditioning Creme and watched the magic happen. lol I let the conditioner sit for awhile out of sheer laziness before washing it out. Sidenote: This conditioner defined my curls very well except for the frizzy patch that's at the bottom left side of my head.

2. After rinsing the conditioner out, I shampooed two times with the weightless shampoo. My hair felt super clean but not striped.

3. I applied the conditioner to my hair to help restore some moisture to my hair. My hair felt soft. I didn't detangle with the conditioner. I can't say rather or not it has slip. I definitely will next time.

4. I applied the hair masque and it detangled pretty well. I sat under the steamer for about 25 minutes. This was first time in months that I used my steamer. I just haven't felt like sitting under it lately. I left the masque on little while longer while I finished up some work around the house. My hair felt very soft and moisturized after I rinsed the masque out. I love the light fruity smell.

5. In an attempt to get rid of products, I pulled out Soultanicles HerShea Sauce Knot Boss detangles/leave-in and proceeded to twist my hair. I must say that my hair feels absolutely soft and moisturized as I am typing this out.

6. I used my SSS plates to stretch out my twists. I kept the plates in for a couple of hours then removed them to allow my hair to continue to air dry.
The one twist that is in the back of my head only had the root plate it. Compare it to the twists on the side and you can see they are more elongated. The plates do their job for my hair. I'll let them dry over night and put my hair in a bun in the morning.

How was your latest wash day?

Huetiful Salon's Nanosmoothing Treatment (written 7/9/15)

The month of July, for me, is what I like to call my family reunion month. 99.5% of time they are held in the South. We all know what the weather is like down South. Hot and humid! The weekend of the Fourth was no exception. I was in Huntsville, AL where rain was also thrown into the hot and humid mix. Knowing this and knowing that I wanted to get my hair done for the dinner part of the itinerary, I got the NanoSmoothing Treatment done instead of the regular blow out. Check out the video below to get a little more info on the treatment.

My appointment was on June 28th which was 5 days away from the dinner. I unfortunately couldn't get an appointment any closer to the day. Now when I get a regular blow out, after a few days I am struggling to not wash my hair and go back to curly/kinky because my hair starts reverting at the roots. Wrapping my hair is out of the question at that point and my hair is back in a ponytail.

This treatment served me well over the weekend. My hair survived the rain and humidity. It did not revert in the slightest. I am really impressed. The fact that my hair is still straight 11 days later is a testament to it truly working for my hair. The treatment is expensive. $175 to be exact. Not everyone's cup of tea. But the treatment lasts 8-12 weeks. Right now it's worth it for me. It delivered on it's promises. I'm washing my hair on Sunday, 2 weeks after initially getting my hair done. I want to see if my hair completely reverts back. I did flat iron my hair again to give my hair a little bump. I flat ironed at 340 degrees w/ only 1 pass.

Sunday 7/12/15 - My hair fully reverted. My hair is a slightly looser then normal because of the Nano. When the Nano wears off, my hair will return to is normal state. I am thinking about getting the Nano again in September.

I Had To Do It

As you know, I have been loving Shea Moisture products lately. The JBCO line and 10 in 1 Renewel System have become staples. I have been satisfied with both lines. The desire to try any new products had subsided until I saw this.

This is a yet another new line that Shea Moisture has snuck up on us It's the new Fruit Fusion Coconut Water Weightless line. So the product junkie in me hightailed it to Ulta, where it is being exclusively sold at the moment, during my lunch break and purchased the Weightless Shampoo, Weightless Creme Rinse and the Weightless Hair Masque. This is one of those times where I was happy that I work in downtown Chicago because there is no Ulta anywhere near where I live. lol Anyway, these products smell so pretty. They have a really nice fruity smell but it's very light. The smell so nice that I am thinking about trying out the body scrub. I am so anxious to use them but I washed my hair yesterday and I have an appointment on Friday at Huetiful. I have another reunion to go to this weekend. I can't use them for at another 2 weeks. There is a BOGO sale going on at Ulta. The store I went to did have the sale in their system and I had to let them know about the sale.
