My Hair Growth Challenge

After finally getting my hands on a length check shirt, I will finally be able to track my growth properly. Now I will be doing my own growth retention challenge. The picture to the left is my starting pic. I am starting with a fresh trim that I received today. So I have no idea what my progress is from the first two bottles of Manetabolism. I can now track my progress of the last few bottles. I haven't taken them in about a week or so and I have 18 days left in my current bottle and 3 full bottles left. I will start back taking them daily today and at the end of May we will see how well these vitamins work for me. I will say though that the thickness I have gained is great and I am very happy with my hair. My regimen will not change. I will be more serious about my deep conditioning my ends only on my co-wash days. Doing this will ensure that my ends stay moisturized which will aide in length retention. My overall goal for the year is to fully hit line 14.

Hair Haul...Part 1

So after my Product No Buy in December, I went crazy and bought more products this month. This is just the first round. Le sigh lol I still have a couple more products that I am waiting on.

1. Creme of Nature Argan Oil Style and Shine Foaming Mousse w/ Liquid Gold
I already have a bottle of this but because I think the new ones they have out have a little more of the Argan Oil in it because the color of the product changed. #nojudgementsplease lol

2. Hairitage Hydration Sticky Honey Hash Conditioner
After seeing Ty Crabble's glowing you tube review and seeing how much a lot her customers swear by this conditioner I just had to get my hands on it. I just received it today and I am so excited. lol I have been waiting on this conditioner since I ordered it on Black Friday. I hope it's worth the long wait.

3. Aphogee Keratin and Green Tea Restructurizer
This leave-in is very popular in the hair journey world. I decided to try it out because I need a protein leave-in.

4. Aphogee Curlific Texture Treatment
This product is from Aphogee's new Curlific line. After seeing a review from MoknowsHair and one on the Mane Objective blog I went and bought it. I will be using this on my next wash day along with the Sticky Honey Hash Conditioner.

5. ORS Hair Mayonaise
This is another product that is very popular in the hair journey world. I decided to try this because I need a protein conditioner that I can get in stores. The Mocha Silk Infusion is still my number 1 protein conditioner but it takes a minute to get it. I need something else to help stretch out the MSI.

Look out for reviews in the future.

Mission: Grow My Bangs Out...How did it end?

Back in April of last year I made it my mission to finally do something about these bangs of mine. Granted, I did retain a good amount of length since they were cut awhile back but that area of my hair is the shortest and slowest growing section. I made a goal to grow and retain my bangs at chin length by the end of 2013. Did I make it?

April 2013

January 2014

I sure did make my way to chin length. Yay for me! lol I know that I didn't have that for to grow from April to the end of the year but since that area grows slow I am happy that I was able to finally grow my bangs the longest they have ever been, that I can remember. Can't wait to see how long they will be at the end of the year.

Wash Day Chronicles 1/15/14

Yesterday was my co-wash day. Since I have been working out and sweating something crazy it was much needed. My new growth was feeling a bit rough.

1. I rinsed my hair and scalp really well to make sure that I washed out the sweat.
2. I co-washed with Hairitage Hydration Pink Grapefruit Punch Conditioner. I still am not a fan of the consistency of this conditioner but the softness of my hair after rinsing and t-shirt drying my hair helps me to get over it. lol

    3. Instead of deep conditioning my entire head I decided to implement deep conditioning my ends only, as pictured above, using the Razzberry Coconut Affair from Silk Dreams. I deep conditioned my ends in four sections. Two for the longer sections of hair and two for my bang area that is shorter than the rest of my hair. I think that doing this will help to get rid of conditioners that I don't use very often. After applying the saran wrap to my ends, I put on my deep conditioning bonnet to help keep the rest of my hair from completely drying and it worked. I'll update how this technique helps my ends after I have done it for awhile.

4. Detangled with Hairitage Hydration Soft Coconut Marshmallows and sealed with Organix Coconut Milk Anti-Breakage Serum. My hair dried very soft and moisturized. Over all it was good wash day.

2014 Regimen

I know when the new year rolls around a lot us tend to reevaluate our regimens. Some of us do an entire regimen overall and others make small tweaks. There isn't much of change to my regimen for the new year. I'm falling into the small tweak category. So hear it goes. Lately have been lazy about doing my midweek washes. If I do do them I find myself rushing through it. This is where the minor tweak comes in. I have been seeing videos and reading blogs about ladies who have been trying out deep conditioning their ends only to help with taking special care of them. When I first started seeing this I dismissed it. But got to thinking and decided to give it shot. Mainly because I have been slacking on my midweek cowashes. I just haven't been feeling up to putting in the work after coming home from work. The washing, deep conditioning, etc have just been put on the back burner couple of times. I have found that it can't continue to happen. Cowashing has been helping me manage my hair during this stretch. Now that I am 19 weeks post I can't slack on my regimen. Since I don't feel like having a full wash day routine on my midweek wash days, I'll substitute deep conditioning all of my hair to just my ends on those days. Our ends are the oldest and most fragile part of our hair doing this will help with minimizing breakage which is great for the length retention that we are all seeking. Below is what my regimen will be at least until the summer. Maybe then I'll go back to deep conditioning twice a week then.

Tuesdays: Cowash Day

TreSemme Naturals or Hairitage Hydration Pink Grapefruit Punch Conditioner
Deep condition my ends only with which ever conditioner I grab
Detangle using the Hairitage Hydration Soft Coconut Marshmallows Leave-In
Seal with Organix Coconut Milk Anti-Breakage Serum
Air Dry and then style

Friday: Cleansing Condish or Shampoo wash

As I Am Coconut Cowash or Purgasm Cocoa and Yogurt Shampoo Bar
Deep Condition w/ steamer w/ a Shi-Naturals or Silk Dream Conditioner
Detangle w/ Soft Coconut Marshmallows Leave-in
Seal with Organix Coconut Milk Anti-Breakage Serum
Air Dry and then style

That's it! Did you make any new changes to your regimen for the new year or did you stick to a "if it ain't broke don't fix it" mentality?
